As a student and professor, I was engaged with schools and teaching for over sixty years. I never saw anything substantive change. Fads came and went. Buzzwords arrived and departed. Texts and curricula appeared and disappeared. And don’t forget all the cool technology mainly useful for draining budgets. The central lesson of schooling always remained the same: Control. Teach them to obey so they can grow up prepared to serve the corporations and the state without complaining. That was done well. No doubt it still is.
