In my arms till break of day
Let the living creature lie…
Auden

Let us be naked and mad together.
Let our aged bodies revel in friction
and come again and again like comets.
Pour more whiskey. Let’s get drunk
and be boldly, briefly young again,
bathed in Lethe’s liquid amber.
It won’t last, but nothing does.
Let our old bones be warm together
in this ever frigid, foreign night.
Nothing to lose and much to gain.
Take this living flesh in yours,
grip it tight against the pain.
Burn the past and memory away.
Bring some life to the dying day.
Outside rages wind and storm.
Inside you all is safe and warm.
