Consumer capitalism can co-opt anything. Once you can buy it, a counter-culture can’t be counter anything, just another product.

The war was corrupt and unnecessary. The anti-war movement was right about that. But it was the Vietnamese who stopped the war. They did that by taking a serious ass kicking and waiting us out. After all, they couldn’t go home, they were home.

Boomers were right to believe that the world was changing. It did. The hubris was believing that we were directing the change. We weren’t.

Still, it was all a hell of a party while it lasted. :) But when it ended, it really did.
