Dancing To Loony Tunes
Life gets measured out in losses,
an arithmetic of only subtraction,
leading to gloomy, overdone drabness.
Yet the world sparkles with renewal.
Dandelions scream out spring’s yellow.
A cardinal’s song sings out hear me!
Even a snoring cat portends possibilities.
Lost battles are lost. Lost friends are gone.
Sometimes you have to look hard at what is,
accept what is no more, and take up the dance.
Dance until you have undone subtraction.
Dance until your heart begins to sparkle.
Dance until the your life’s colors return.
