Even established single payer systems are under heavy pressure. The British NHS is, as far as I can tell from here in PA, in crisis and crumbling. The German model works better. The French in-between.

But in the US with our winner takes all mentality, the chance for any kind of single payer system is a pipe dream. When it comes to government benefits, Americans believe if they get them, they are entitled to them, but if others get them, they’re a scam and a waste. For others, simply substitute poor. Yes race is an issue, but class is the issue.
