For many years, long before DT, I have felt like an outlaw in an occupied country and I have refused to play by rules I don’t like and don’t recognize. It has cost me and that’s fine.
As Robert Heinlein said, “I will accept any rules that you feel necessary to your freedom. I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.”
It’s a simple enough way to live, but not a popular one. :)
