How To Become A Poet 2.1

I forgot something.

Almost every day, in messages and email, I am asked how I write so much.

It’s simpler than you might think.

Some of what I publish is old. Some is old and reworked. But most of it is current, so it does seem a lot.

Also, being of a certain age, I mostly write about only three topics: love, death, and memory. That allows for focus.

Writing becomes easier and easier for me. Whether that makes it better is up to you.

But mostly it’s a matter of time.

I am old. I don’t work. I live alone (setting aside the cat). I currently don’t have a drivers license. I rarely leave my hovel. Days pass when I don’t go outside or hear another human voice. I don’t own a TV. Do you see a pattern?

I get up at around four AM and spend three to five hours reading, writing and posting. After that, it’s mostly nothing or binge watching stuff on my Kindle Fire (currently Black Sails).

I am the living embodiment of “no life.”

This allows me time that most people just don’t have available.

I absolutely do not recommend this as a lifestyle.

But you can’t beat it for productivity.

Mike
