I can’t disagree with anything you say and as usual, you say it very well. In most ways, the sixties were a moment that turned into a market. Nothing exists in America that can’t be sold. If God showed up tomorrow, he/she/it would quickly become a product sold on infomercials for insomniac idiots. The power of consumer capitalism can co-opt anything from bell bottoms to spirituality. It did then and it still does.
