I don’t think the word “alleged” works with bi-polar or depression or schizophrenia or paranoia. These conditions have existed forever and are well documented.

But I agree that many people seem to revel in their illnesses. I doubt they are severe cases, people who are truly crippled by their conditions. Those don’t write blog posts.

Somehow having a label makes some folks feel special. Mental illness and therapy were never meant to be religions or to confer social status.

The world is full of whiners. Nothing new about that. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t really sick people who do need help.

Even paranoid people have enemies. :)
