I’m a Vietnam vet. I have used the VA for 13 years. During that time, I have been (mostly) treated well, and more importantly, with respect.

I do not dispute your facts and examples, but what is your alternative?

Dump veterans into the private, crumbling, health care system? I imagine the care will be more expensive, no better, and the respect will vanish.

Perhaps keeping the VA, but getting it out of construction and real estate, is possible. That might improve matters. I don’t know.

I do know that the VA, like Social Security and Medicare, is a political land mine, one few politicians are willing to step on. Don’t expect any change anytime soon.
