Interestingly, MacAthur lives with bile in the collective memory of the Marine Corps whose lives he wasted so casually in unnecessary fights like the horror of Peleliu where the First Marine Division suffered 70% casualties. They called him “Dugout Doug” and “The Napoleon of Luzon.” And they never, ever forgot or forgave that he was an Army general. :)
