Jessica: I agree with you, but perhaps the “general public” needs to seek science out as well. Fortunately, there are (and have been) many writers (some scientists, some not) who do an excellent job of clarifying science for the educated, lay readership. Perhaps the problem is, there isn’t much of an educated, lay readership left. In any case, excellent and well-written article.
