No, they can’t. It isn’t really their fault. Combat is outside the ability of most people to imagine. After the war, 32 years passed before I ever spoke or wrote about it. I do it now because we are getting old and these stories need to be told before we are gone. See my A Good Day In Spookville. Working for the CIA made me even more wary of talking about it.
