One thing (mostly) younger lovers of the “new” media can’t see through their fascination with the shiny toys is that nothing, other than an increase in access, has really changed. If you measure signal to noise, the noise has increased dramatically since the horse and buggy days of print media, the signal, hardly at all. The “paradigm” has not changed, only the form. Quantity, not quality.
Medium’s (like the Post’s) political, social, and cultural biases are there for anyone with eyes to see. Jeff Bezos owns the printing press. So does Ev Williams. They come from the same world. They see it the same way. Bezos is just richer. If you own the printing press, you can print what you like. Or not.
It’s a rigged game, Anthony. It always has been. But it’s the only game in town.
