Thanks, Efe. I hope people understand that I was not saying that poetry should be “simple.” Poetry is highly charged, highly condensed language. Close reading requires practice and thought. But if you look at the poem on the page, and you are a reasonably well read, thoughtful person, you should be able to deal with it. It can take effort, but should not require a pick and shovel. Read the words and think, that’s all any reader can do. :)
