The working class that I grew up with began to die off in the 70s with the collapse of heavy industries and unions in the rust belt. The remains are more like refugees than a class. When you are a refugee in your own country, when you are the disposables, anger is inevitable. As this continues and makes its way up through the middle class that anger will only intensify. “Respectful, diverse debate” is already going. In time, it will be gone. The question is: then what?
