There was a time (trust me) when most people naturally understood that you adjusted your language to what was appropriate for the situation, and they did. There were words that were appropriate for the battlefield, the boudoir, the PTA meeting, the locker room, etc. They belonged where they were appropriate. Sometime in the seventies that got lost. Now people just blurt out anything in any situation. Perhaps they think they are shocking. They aren’t. They are just crude. Vulgarity for its own sake is simply lame.
