Well said. Age doesn’t automatically make you wise, but it does give you perspective. Youth worship has done much harm on many levels in America. The young are intelligent and beautiful, but most often have no sense of how what they feel and think fits into the greater story. They don’t, probably can’t, understand the absolute necessity of context to understanding. But youth is ever more fleeting. No one but the dead escape ageing. In time, they will know. But in the meantime, there is no reason to worship them just because thay are young. As Auden said:
