Why does lack of historical perspective surprise you? As a teacher/professor/human, I’ve watched it diminish for at least 40 years. The current generation is easily the worst informed of many ill informed generations.

I fear this trend toward ignorance will continue until people live only in an eternal present. Then they will be perfect lemmings, ready to obey any current command, unable to ask questions.

Of course, luckily I’m old and won’t have to witness this folly. By your picture at least, you are young and will. I feel sorry for you. For my own kids too. It’s reassuring to see someone your age bucking this trend. Mike
