Well written and thought out as usual. The smug belief that the lights will always come on, etc. is appallingly stupid. Consumer capitalism and the demand for cheap goods delivered instantly is untenable. This 12 year “boom” economy was built on the backs of part-time, hourly workers who are now disposable. Workers means people who do work. Now they aren’t working. Supply chains are beginning to fail. If this continues, they will break. People will wail when bacon costs $20 a pound. I don’t want people to die unnecessarily, but I don’t want the lives of millions to be crushed because of the economic disaster that the lock downs will undoubtedly cause. I don’t see this playing out in a good way.
